Pantaloons are India's largest listed multi-channel retailer, catering to all segments of customers through its full fledged departmental stores, discount stores, food and groceries, and jewellery.

Pantaloons have embarked on an ambitious plan of increasing their current sales turnover by more than five times in 2005. Their existing retail management systems could not scale to meet the needs of the business growth strategy, especially one built around a multi-channel customer approach.

SmartShop was chosen as the enterprise-wide integrated information management system. The implementation of SmartShop has allowed the Pantaloons group to track customer transactions, manage inventory, create loyalty programs and monitor buying trends. But above all, the integration of their multi-channel business model has led to the availability of accurate and consistent data which will enable better decision making by Pantaloons.

Odel is Sri Lanka's flagship retail brand and has received much international acclaim. Its rapid growth from a small retail business to a multi-store retailer modelled on the mega malls of US and Europe meant that it had to address its IT challenges as the business grew.

An enterprise grade financial application was initially installed as the foundation for growth. Following closely was the need for a modern retail management system to handle store operations and customer loyalty system through a customer relationship management system.

SmartShop was selected as the backbone of Odel's retail management solution. It provided all of the necessary functionality required to run a branch store which could then be centralised at the main head office store located in central Colombo. The integration of SmartShop with the finance system (ACCPAC) was considered routine due to SmartShop's open integration architecture.

SmartShop has provided Odel the ability to centrally control their inventory operations and loyalty programs whilst providing full data interchange with their finance system, leading to lower operational and maintence costs.
